Monkey Love!!!

I keep referring to our little man as my little booty or my little monkey and precisely today my weekly email informed me that baby is the size of a banana! Craig and I have not decided on a name yet, we keep going back and forth although we have our favorites but we can't commit!!!! It seems like some parents-to-be come up with the name quickly and easily and for others (us!) it's an overwhelming decision! I remember growing up, I thought I had my favorite names picked out but it wasn't until I got to where I am today that realize that some of my ideas don't go as well with the last name of my wonderful husband!!! I know that once we find the one that seems perfect, we'll probably think it's even more perfect once we get to know and fall in love with our 'little monkey" who'll go by it!

Yesterday was a bittersweet day. I took a shower in the morning and as a typical morning, I laid down for a few minutes afterwards to allow my heart rate to go down. As I was resting, I grabbed my phone, started playing some music and closed my eyes with my hands on my belly....then to my great surprise, our little man greeted me with a kick. Unsure if it was the real thing, I focused and prayed for him to do it again, and BOOM, it happened again! Tears of joy poured down my eyes, the feeling of him kicking was better than anything I could have imagined and I could hardly contain my emotions!!! I couldn't wait to share the news!!! I ran downstairs and told my mom who hugged me tight and then we unexpectedly got the phone call that my aunt's husband had suddenly passed away. One thought came to my mind and I'm still unable to wrap my arms around it, people come and go, here we have a life that is about to begin and one that ended too soon. Uncle Mike will be missed dearly.

As the family left to drive down to Florida to be together during this difficult time, I was more and more excited to see Craig after he was gone for a week. Even though I couldn't park the car at the airport and welcome him with the tightest hug and a huge kiss, once I saw his bright yellow jacket walking outside, I got butterflies. We drove home and when we got here I hugged him and wanted him to hold me so tight and never let go....so another thought came to mind....ever since we met, we always have said to each other "If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day so that I don't have to live without you" (thank you Pooh) and that is one of my favorite quotes in the world!

Craig said hi to the belly and when I told him that the baby had kicked, he got a smile from ear to ear. Our little man decided not to give daddy a preview, or the pleasure of feeling him kick but I'm sure sooner or later we won't be able to make him stop kicking for a minute!!!! I keep telling Craig that soccer is in his genes and we got a little soccer star in our hands...I think he likes to hear that!!!

As far as baby's development, his digestive system is prepping for the outside world as he continues to manufacture meconium which is the black tarry substance that we will have the pleasure of seeing on his first dirty diaper!!!! Also his eyebrows and eyelids are now present!!!
Not the greatest picture...but it will do for now!!
21 weeks baby!!!!!
